PUBLIC NOTICE: SPIL Public Input Opportunity to Gather Input on Michigan’s FY 2021 - 2023 State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL)

December 18, 2019

5:00-8:00 PM

The Michigan Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) is soliciting input from the public, disability community, and partners to determine what issues affecting the lives of Michiganders with disabilities are priority areas and to gather input on independent living services throughout the State of Michigan.  The State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) is the document which provides us with guidelines and a plan on how we will strengthen and expand the independent living network in Michigan over the next three years.  Our Mission: An independent, federally mandated state council that advances Independent Living philosophy thru a network of CILs and statewide partnerships where all individuals have the right to make informed choices, have personal control over their own lives, and to participate to the fullest extent possible in the everyday activities of work, school, home and community.

Michigan is required to have a SPIL in place in order to receive federal dollars for independent living services.

We invite Michiganders with disabilities, family members, advocates, service providers, and other interested parties to participate in the SPIL Public Input Opportunity on December 18, 2019 from 5:00-8:00PM at the University of Michigan Flint Pavilion, 303 Saginaw Street, Flint MI 48502.
